Eric Hoyt, Kahl Family Professor and WCFTR and MHDL Director, received the Open Scholarship Award at this year’s 2nd UW-Madison Open Awards! Eric is pictured here with Kyle Cranmer, Director of the Data Science Institute, at the awards ceremony at UW-Madison.
The Open Awards are presented by the UW-Madison Libraries, the Data Science Institute, and the Open Source Program Office. The program is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
From the Open Awards website:
The awards recognize and celebrate those using open practices in their work and who are inspiring others to do the same. The awards also recognize that open practices vary across academic communities including: open access publishing, open data, open education, open source software and hardware, open science, and more. All of these open practices are critical to the mission of the Wisconsin Idea — enabling sharing to maximize resources and knowledge dissemination, fostering transparency, and ensuring greater impact of research outputs to the public good.
Congratulations to Eric! His projects at the WCFTR and the MHDL show his dedication to open access scholarship and archival programs, as do his recent open access books Ink-Stained Hollywood and Global Movie Magazine Networks, co-edited with Kelley Conway.
